CURRICULUM VITAE
Wolfram H Kluge was born in Germany in 1962. He obtained the German State Exam in Medicine at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena in 1990. He was awarded the academic degree ‘doctor medicinae’ in 1990 and ‘doctor medicinae habilitatus’ in 2004. He undertook his orthopaedic training in Great Britain, Zambia and Germany between 1990 and 1998.
Wolfram Kluge worked as Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University Orthopaedic Hospital Jena, Germany from 1997 until 2003. He developed a special interest in joint replacement surgery and computer assisted surgery. Wolfram Kluge has been registered as Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1998 (German Register: FG/145/98, GMC Specialist Register 3619375). He acquired further sub-specialization in Orthopaedic Rheumatology (German Register: TG/01/2002) and Advanced Orthopaedic Surgery (German Register: FW/05/2003).
Mr Kluge in currently appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, England. He will see patients at Yorkshire Clinic (Bingley), at Eccleshill Treatment Centre (Bradford) or at Nuffield Hospital (Leeds). Wolfram Kluge is particularly interested in primary and secondary hip and knee joint replacement surgery. He performs uni-compartmental and patello-femoral knee replacements, hip resurfacing as well as complex revision surgery. Hip and knee dysplasia in young adults and rheumatoid disease are part of his spectrum. He is using computer assisted and less invasive surgical technology. He is also practising general orthopaedic day surgery involving hand and foot cases. His practice within the NORTHERN HIP & GROIN INSTITUTE offers far-reaching cover of the orthopaedic field working in close connection with other specialities.
Wolfram Kluge studied for a Doctorate between 1988 and 1990. During his orthopaedic training he maintained his interest in research associated with the orthopaedic sub-specialities. Between 1997 and 2004 he worked on his Habilitation Thesis on the subject of “Cholinesterases in CSF and Serum – Investigations related to pathogenetic aspects of lumbar spine degenerative disease”. Various papers on the topic have been published. Current research topics are covering less invasive and computer assisted joint replacement surgery. Research including peer reviewed scientific publication is part of his NHS and private practice.
Mr Kluge is Honorary Senior Lecturer with the University of Leeds. He is involved in teaching of candidates about to finish their specialist orthopaedic training. He conducts tutorials, teaching ward rounds and supervises junior colleagues in theatre. He participates in regular professional education maintaining his specialised knowledge and practical skills at national and international standards. He presents at national as well as international conferences and courses on a regular basis. Mr Kluge is Home Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association and Member of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Wolfram Kluge finds fishing an important source of relaxation and refreshment. He is an avid jogger. The little spare time he greatly enjoys spending with his family. |
