Revision Hip- Joint Replacement

Surgical reconstruction of complex deformities associated with implant failure or bone breakdown around the prosthesis is called revision joint replacement surgery. The goal of revision surgery is re-alignment of the leg and its joints, pain free movement and a stable gait pattern. If there is no sign of infection, a one stage exchange of the implant can be performed. If there is an infection present the implant has to be removed temporarily. The results of revision hip replacement surgery are less predictable compared to primary implantation.
